Tired Feet, Full Hearts

Day Twenty Four - (Camino del San Salvador Completo, Camino Primitivo Completo)

Camino Finisterre/Muxia, Day Three Lago to Corcubión

“It is good to have an end to journey towards; but is the journey that matters in the end.”

Ursula K. La Guin

Last night’s stay at Alburgue Monte Aro was everything you’d hope for in an albergue - wonderful bar and meal, a lively group of people singing and playing music on the resident ukulele, comfy blankets on the beds and a washer and dryer. We headed after our morning coffee, mentally and physically prepared (or so we thought) for a long day of walking. It was a day that felt long; not particularly difficult, just long.

Now, I am seated in our pensión, looking out at a cool, grey sea. We four have spent the entire day together, and yet here we are, after a shower and meal, sitting around a table sharing drinks, pictures and funny videos. Tomorrow we will arrive at Finisterre, what the Spanish once thought was the end of the world, and yet it is a new beginning for many a pilgrim as well. For myself, I am tossing a stone into the sea - the “could have, would have, should have” stone. I have wasted far too much time rehashing past events and wishing for a different outcome. I’m where I am now because of all the choices that led me to this point, and all in all, I like who I am and where I’m at - and all the people who surround me.
