The End Of The World

Day Twenty Five - (Camino del San Salvador Completo, Camino Primitivo Completo), Camino Finisterre/Muxia, Day Four Corcubión to Finisterre

“The people he met, the places he passed, were all steps in his journey, and he kept a place inside his heart for each of them.”

― Rachel Joyce, The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry

I arrived in Finisterre today. Along the way, I bumped into four different people who I traveled the Primitivo with. Later in the day, I posted a picture of myself at Cabo Finisterre and received messages of congratulations from people I’ve walked with over the last few weeks, as well as those I’ve walked previous Caminos with. It makes me laugh to think about it now - bounding across a street to grab someone in an exuberant hug, someone you didn’t know existed a month ago. When you walk with people every day for hours on end, you learn of struggles, triumphs, hopes, dreams and goals. You discover as you share, you’ve much more in common that you thought possible, even if you’re from the other side of the world. We are not really so very unique in our struggles as we think we are. We get under each other’s skin - in a good way. My heart is stretched every time I’m here, to make room for the many I come to care for as we walk these paths together.
